Poppies, Roses, Sweet Peas and more

Dear readers,
I have been enjoying so many blooms in my garden lately. Having spent so much time in my garden and having been on a garden vacation to England last week, I haven´t found much time to share pictures of my garden and terraces. May was a lovely month in the garden. The roses bloomed abundantly and I had also some success with growing poppies this year. I have been trying to grow poppies for years (saw them in English gardens so many times), but this year was the first time that they really thrived. The secret seems to lie in sowing the poppies in autumn instead of spring ( this great advise I got from Hetty http://dutchgarden-stories.blogspot.com). With my sweet peas I am still struggling a bit. As you will see in the pictures, the sweet peas on my terraces looked very pretty in May, but now they start to turn yellow even though I water and feed them regularly. I think it might be too hot for them on the terrace as the ones I grow in the garden still look fine. The pictures I am showing you are from about three weeks ago. I really hope that I will find time to post more often in the future. I had such a lovely England vacation last week, visiting so many beautiful and inspiring gardens and I am sure you would love them as much as I did. So I will hopefully post about lovely English gardens soon. Not only have I enjoyed the garden vacation, but I am also extremely happy to enjoy my own garden again. I have been quite anxious to leave my garden (even though I was only away for five days). Fortunately my mum and two lovely friends looked after my garden while I was in England. Although it was 2 a.m when I came back from the airport on Sunday, I had to make a stop in my garden before going to my flat, seeing that everything is alright. In the middle of the night I strolled through my garden, looking at my plants and feeling extremely happy that they were all thriving.
Enjoy your garden!
Best wishes,
Lisa
