Enjoying spring on my terrace

Dear readers,
lately I have been spending as much time as possible in my garden and on my terraces. Usually the month of April is unpredictable, not so this year. We have been having lovely warm and sunny weather the last few weeks. Today I´d like to share some pictures of my living room terrace. I am very pleased with the tulips I planted in autumn. I love their colours and they brighten up the terrace. I also like how they look against my self-made brick wall. I chose pastels and purples as a colour scheme for the terrace. At the moment I am in love with grayish, silvery, bluish foliage combined with purple flowers. I thus planted  a lot of lavender, some papaver somniferum and herbs and I think they look pretty next to the purple tulips and will hopefully also look lovely in combination with the rose flowers. I´d love to know what colour combinations you like in your garden!
Have a lovely, hopefully sunny weekend and enjoy spring!
Best wishes,
Lisa

  1. Dear Lisa, the wall that you created makes a perfect backdrop to all of your planting. Love lavender too as does that bee, and what an unusal looking bee he is with his black and rust coloured body.

  2. Your terrace is most beautiful with all your plantings. I can see why you like these tulips. The blooms look like the roses you adore. That little bee is so sweet. I have never seen one that looks like this. A hard worker for you that is handsome. Enjoy the sunshine. I am hoping that the sun will shine here and warm up the days so I can sit and enjoy the garden. You are right about the cooler weather making the tulips and spring ephemerals lasting longer. I guess I shouldn't complain.

    1. Thank you Lisa! I would really like to send you some sunshine. Here it is so warm. I think it might even be too warm. After all this cold in February and March, it feels as if it were summer already and I have to water a lot so that the plants don´t dry out.
      Best wishes,
      Lisa

  3. Your little terrace is a terra cotta paradise. I have to admit to a color pairing that is not to everyone's taste, but I love it -- pink and orange. Great shots of the bee!

    1. Hi Alison, isn´t it interesting how we all have our own colour preferences in the garden! I am sure pink and orange looks very striking.
      Best wishes,

  4. Your tulips look fantastic against the brick wall. But Lisa, I think every colour will do! So lots of to experiment with in the future. Enjoy the sunshine. Groetjes,

    1. Thank you Hetty! I know how much you love experimenting with plants. Although I am not all to experimental with colour, I experimented with frost hardiness of plants lately. Unfortunately, quite a lot of my experiments failed.
      Have a great week!
      Best wishes,
      Lisa
